The Details

“Brave New Face” picks up on an earlier work “Eye Toward the future”. Created in October of 2001 following the horrific terrorist attack on New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, “Brave New Face” expresses stoic strength, hope for the future and harkens back to tradition values.

In this piece, 21.75” x 2.125”, using a dish form on a pedestal, the central bowl is randomly leafed with gold, silver and brass foils, framed with a broad bead of calming, natural, polished figured bigleaf maple which is then flanked by an ebonized radial carved field, imparting a visual energy to the piece.

The underside of the piece is natural, and like the single bead, has a smooth satin sheen achieved with several applications of  hand rubbed varnish.

It is valued at $1800.00 and part of my permanent collection
